Holistic Wellness by Dr Shikha Sharma

Here's a diet to talk of. As one of the oldest and tested through time, "The living foods" diet is one that will never go out of fashion! It's been used many times over by the nature cure clinics and has proved to be a MIRACLE DIET.

Folks with the utmost grit and determination can be a part of it. Besides being one for losing those extra kilos, it's meant to detox your body and cure a variety of health issues. This diet seems to cause a major shift in physiology making one highly energized; it puts the body on an "auto-correct mode", thus has the power to correct the cellular, hormonal imbalance in ones body which in turn corrects major diseases and disorders. In addition, one's health gets so refined on this diet that there's a noticeable improvement in digestion "every day" as well as an overall improvement in the digestive system.

Keeping this diet in mind, adding raw foods simultaneously to cooked food does not help since both "cross- react "and cause gas and bloating. Living foods have all these miraculous properties because of the presence of enzymes which are live active energizing units of metabolic chain and are the main co-coordinators of metabolism. The living food diet is called as such because it does not contain any cooked food in the diet. The diet consists merely of all food products which can be eaten in their natural state without cooking.

A carnal rule while following this diet is that, one must eat organic vegetables as pesticide laced foods, even if living may not prove beneficial.

The only vitamin which needs supplementation in this diet is B-12. This vitamin is found mainly in meat (especially liver and shellfish, milk and eggs.) But one may use a multivitamin tablet just as well.

Here's a sample living food diet:

BREAKFAST
10 sprouted Almonds (badams)
A glass of carrot, tomato and beetroot juice.
And top that with a big bowl of fruits.

LUNCH
A bowl of sprouts without salt with a quarter lemon squeezed for taste and throw in some capsicums, carrots and tomatoes.

TEA-TIME
A choice of lemon water, herb tea or just some seasonal fruits.

DINNER
Vegetable soup with fresh tofu. About Author
